Fifty common expressions that originated from the Bible that influences our language today.

During the celebration of the 400th Anniversary of the King James Bible, British parliamentarian and broadcaster, Melvyn Bragg, called the Bible the “DNA of the English language.” The following quote is from the BBC Magazine:

“No other book, or indeed any piece of culture, seems to have influenced the English language as much as the King James Bible. Its turns of phrase have permeated the everyday language of English speakers, whether or not they’ve ever opened a copy.”

In the upcoming weeks, we will be looking at some of the common expressions of the Bible that have influenced our culture and society to this day.
